July 11, 2001 You
colored on the carpet today, when your Dad asked
you if you did. You said, no the dog did it.
|
 |
July 9, 2001 We
went to your Uncle Ken and Aunt Roselie’s house to
celebrate the 4th of July and we
slipped in a small birthday party for your Dad.
We also had a mini fireworks show. You were ok
with the lights, but not the sound. You sat in
the van with your Dad and Grandma Jude. |
 |
July 5, 2001 You
did sand art in school today and came home with a
glass bottle with layered colored sand. |
 |
July 1, 2001 It
was time for Steven to go home today. That
morning before we left, you were strumming your
guitar and were signing “Steven… going to the
airport “. When you got to the airport you were
ok with things, until you realized that he was
actually leaving and you started crying. On the
way home you kept saying you wanted to go home
with Steven.
“Star Spangled 4th”
The three of us went to the 4th
of July celebration that was being held in down
town Garland. You rode several rides, most of
them you have ridden before. They had these big
blown up things that you loved to jump in. We had
a little hard time getting you out of them.
Actually, I think it would be fun too, but it is
just for kids. The other new ride this year was a
small Ferris wheel. I am sure that it was not
small to you. At first you were not to sure about
it and you kept looking up at your Dad like, is it
ok. You Dad would tell you that you were safe.
By the time the ride ended you thought it was
fun. We all had a great day. |
 | June
23, 2001 You
have been working at putting your own shoes on
lately and you finally succeeded today. |
 |
June 22, 2001 We
all went to Six Flags today. You hung out with
your Dad while Steven and I went and rode all the
big rides. You passed shortly after we got on the
road home. You played until you dropped. |
 | June
21, 2001 You
had your first dentist appointment today. Dr.
Brawley said that your teeth looked great!
I was thrilled that you were so good
about letting him look in your mouth. |
 | June
20, 2001 You
made your first craft at school today.
I was suppose to be a lay, but you got it
wet when you were watering the plants. Therefore, it became a medallion. |
 | June
18, 2001I think you would like to have
stayed at school a little longer. You kept wanting to go back inside. |
 | June
13, 2001 You did not cry today when I
left school today.
It was almost the kind of Goodbye that
meant, “Go, so I can play”.
I was actually relieved to see you so
willing to stay. |
 | June
12, 2001 Today
at school you looked very sad when I left you,
but you did not cry. |
 |
June 9, 2001
We picked up your cousin Steven at
the airport today. He stayed a few weeks to help
us doing some things around the house.
|
 | June
4, 2001 You
started school today.
You were enrolled at Lakewood Montessori
School. You
really enjoy it and have become a real
sweetheart for your teachers. They say that you
are doing great and very interested in
learning... While many other children are
playing, you are eager to complete your projects
and start new ones... They say you play very
well with the other children and take the
teachers direction extremely well. |
 | May
19, 2001 You
made you own Peanut Butter sandwich today.
You asked your Dad for some bread and
then you got out the Peanut butter and a knife
and make your own sandwich
|
 | May
17, 2001 I
was working in the flower bed and found some
snails. It
was the first time you have seen a snail and you
called them “Nails”. |
 | May
13, 2001 We
got you a puppy today.
She is a Brookshire Welch Corgi
and your Dad named her Brook.
You picked her, there were four puppies
and only one with that was black.
I asked you which one you wanted and you
replied, The black one”.
She is actually a tri-colored Corgi. |
 | April
26, 2001 Grandma
Jude taught you how to do the “Hokey Pokey”
today. It
is so much fun to watch you “put your right
foot in and shake it all about”. |
 | April
24, 2001 You
blew your fathers and my minds tonight.
You were filing Blue’s paws (you large
stuffed bunny) and you started writing letters
in his fur with the emory board.
You wrote and H, I, E and F.
Our jaws just dropped!
A few days later you did it in the carpet
with your drumstick.
It seems to be easier doing it that way
than it is with pen and paper. |
 | April
23, 2001 You
started doing “Simon Says” today.
It was on your current favorite program
“Dragon Tales” and you picked it up.
You now go around saying “Simon Says”
clap
your hands etc.
You're even kind enough to say “Good,
Good” while you are thinking of another thing
for us to do. |
 | April
16, 2001 We
bought you a bicycle
today (with training wheels).
You were already riding it before we even
left the store. |
 | April
15, 2001 All
the family came over for Easter today. You had a
great time hunting
Easter Eggs in the back yard. |
 | April

colored your first Easter eggs.
Your Dad and you worked on them together. |
 | April
6, 2001 I
was not feeling very good and Grandma Ruth came
back with us and spent the week. You two played constantly. |
 | April
2, 2001 You,
your Aunt Debbie and I drove out to Lubbock to
visit Grandma Ruth and Papa for a few days.
We stopped and visited with your Cousin Kami on the
way. Roy
and Shannon gave you some Easter egg shaped
sidewalk chalk.
You tried it out at your Aunt Connie’s
house and your Aunt Janice’s house.
I actually think us big children enjoyed
them as much as you did.
You also had a ball with Mitzy (Grandma
and Papa’s cat).
She would chase you around the house and
you would laugh.
Grandma Ruth taught you how to sing
“One, Two buckle my shoe …..”. |
 | March
31, 2001 Your
first Circus.
It was at the Mesquite Rodeo arena and
sponsored by the Shiner's organization.
There were the normal circus things:
clowns, jugglers, elephants, monkeys and a pony
ride. I
believe you enjoyed the pony ride the most. |
 | March
24, 2001 We
went to Six Flags over Texas today.
This is not your first time to Six Flags.
However, some of the rides were firsts
for you. You
rode your first roller coaster and virtual ride
today. You
liked them both.
The first roller coaster was in the kid
zone and went pretty fast.
I was somewhat amazed at how fast it did
go. Then
we rode the Mini Mine Train.
This ride is in the regular part of the
park, but still good for little ones.
The virtual ride was about rescuing some
dinosaurs from a volcanic island that is about
to explode.
|
 | March
13, 2001 Well,
I have now become "Moma Sandy".
I am not sure why, but that is what you
call me. I
have tried to explain that I really like being
called just "Moma", but you respond,
“Otay Moma Sandy”. And
Dad has also become "Daddy Ray"... |
 |
March
8, 2001 You
did the “What?” thing to Grandma Jude today.
You showed her that Maggie and Moe (the
gerbils) were eating a Frito.
She asked you if you gave it to them.
Your response was “What?”
Grandma Jude asked
“Did Daddy give it to them.”
You said
“No”.
Grandma Jude asked “Did Mommy
give it to them?” You said “No.”
Grandma Jude asked “Did Wesley give it to them?”
You said
“What?”
You don’t lie, but you are not about to
incriminate yourself. |
 |
February
27, 2001 This morning I found part of my
puzzle in the floor and I asked you if you tore
up the puzzle or did the cats do it.
You response was “What?” every time I
asked you.
Then you did that “Cat who ate the
canary smile” it was probably you, but I have
no proof. We
were also at the grocery store today and the
sacker guy asked you if you were a troublemaker.
You were not impressed at all and you
gave him a nasty look and turned your head.
He even tried to tell you that he was
just playing, but you would have no part of him.
We all laughed, but you were still not
impressed.
|
 |
February
24, 2001 We went to Benny's for Grandma
Jude’s Birthday with Aunt Janna, Uncle Scott,
Cuz Timmy, Adam, Samantha and their friend TJ.
You tried the hula-hoop and limbo with
the other kids that were there. |
 |
February
23, 2001 You are starting to really pick
up some of our statements and using them for
your benefit.
I asked you to go use the potty and you
told me that you were busy. |
 |
February
20, 2001 Well I only looked away for a
minutes and you put on my blush. You got both cheeks pretty good.
However, you did not appreciate the clean
up process. |
 |
February
18, 2001 You
were playing Simtunes with Grandma Jude and we
noticed that you have really starting using the
mouse. However,
today, when you were playing it with you Dad you
took a big step, you learned how to use the
scroll bar. |
 |
February
16, 2001 You seem to like to run around
naked, however, sometimes you've gone
peepee on the floor and I have had to talk to
you about not doing that.
I found you naked today and I asked you
if you went peepee on the floor and you said no.
You went peepee on the slide.
I guess I should have been more specific
about what not to pee on. |
 |
February
9, 2001 You
have been playing with the LeapFrog Pond toy and
learning the phonics of the letter.
I was quite surprised when I noticed that
you were doing them in reverse today.
I think you are a self-taught kid. |
 |
February
6, 2001 We
all went to Kobe Steak House (Japanese
Restaurant) for Uncle Ken and Aunt Rosalie’s
anniversary.
You were not to thrilled with the sound
of the grill when they were making our food.
You also told the cook “Nooooo, No
fire”. |
 |
February
1, 2001 We
all went skating to celebrate you cousin
Samantha’s birthday.
The attendees were:
Grandma Jude, Uncle Wayne, Uncle Ken,
Cousin Gay Lynn, Cousin Kevin, Aunt Denise, Aunt
Janna, Cousin Samantha, and family friend Aaron
(your usual skate buddy), Jennifer
(Samantha’s friend) and Mom and Dad. |
 |
January
30, 2001 This
is the first time you spent the whole day alone
with your Dad.
You two had a great time.
You went to McDonalds for breakfast and
Grandma Jude’s house later that day for
dinner. I
couldn’t believe it; you saved your poop for
me! Your
Dad is such a lucky dog.
I guess he bribed you to save it for me. |
 |
January
23, 2001 You
started your “Mommy and Me” class today.
It is a fun way of learning Spanish.
Our neighbor, Pat is the teacher.
We went to a lady’s house that you did
not know and you did not want to even get out of
the car until I convinced you that there were
children inside. You were ok for a while, but when it was your turn to sing
you slid under the table. I
hope you are more comfortable next time. |
 |
January
20, 2001 We
called Papa to talk and he was not available so
you talked to Dylan instead.
You seemed to enjoy your conversation,
but I could not understand a single word you
said. |
 |
January
17, 2001 You
received a toy for Christmas that plays songs as
well as teaches the Alphabet.
You have learned several of the songs.
It is fund to watch you sing.
You have actually started call the toy
“London Bridge”.
That is the first song you learned to
sign with the toy. |
 |
January
15, 2001 We
went for a walk in the park today and you
enjoyed playing in the sand and watching the
water under the bridge.
You also met your cousin, Kevin for the
first time today.
His mother Denise and he came over and
you two played and we all ate pizza. |
 |
January
10, 2001 Our
neighbor Pat loaned you a child’s guitar since
you had shown some interest in it. Today, I heard you signing as you strummed the strings.
It was definitely your own song in your
own words and your own tune.
However, I thought it was pretty neat. |
 |
January
9, 2001 Not
sure how you did it, but you called your Grandma
Ruth today.
I found you with the phone and you said,
Grandma, Papa. So, we called them and she asked; did Wesley just call?
I am glad it them and not 911 again. |
 |
January
7, 2001 You
are all boy.
Your Dad and I came into our bedroom and
found you sitting in your Dad’s chair watching
TV. It was football and you said “Go Dallas Cowboys”.
We were shocked. At least you have great taste, in our book anyway. |
 |
January
4, 2001 We
went to one of your favorite places to eat,
Benny’s Burgers, and there was a little boy
"Shawn" that was just walking trying
to follow you around and play with you.
It was cute. You would turn around and tell him to come-on and he would
waddle as fast as he could to catch up with you. |
 | January
01, 2001 It
is Christmas with your Dad’s family.
It almost didn’t happen this day
because of snow.
However, it melted enough to drive and
everyone made it except Scott and Timmy.
There are lots of firsts on this first
day of the New Year.
Janna took you outside with Samantha and
Adam and you made your first snow-angel and
helped make a snowman.
We had a great day! |
 | December
29, 2000 Your
cousins Samantha and Adam came over and spent
the weekend with us. You had a great time with somebody here to play with.
Also, I think Adam got to experience what
it was like to have a little brother; you would
follow him around and do everything he did. |
 | December
28, 2000 We
all went skating and celebrated your Uncle
Ken’s birthday.
We had them sing Happy Birthday to him as
he lead the whole rink in the hokey-pokey.
You cousins Timmy and Adam came as well. There was
this lady walking around the rink holding her
little girl's hand (about your age) while
helping teach her how to skate. You went up to
this lady and invited yourself to take her other
hand so she could help you too. We all got a
good laugh at your boldness.
You have
really started skating pretty well on your own. |
 | December
27, 2000 Unckie
Charles and Geri came over and brought you a
Christmas gift.
It was a HUGH fire truck.
It goes forwards and backwards, the
ladder goes up and down, and there are lights
and whistles and it is almost big enough for you
to ride on.
Afterwards, we went over to their house
for supper and you got so comfortable at their
house you stripped down and ran through the
house naked.
Geri and I were both very surprised when
you showed up in the living room totally nude. |
 | December
25,
2000 It
is Christmas here at home.
Wow, Santa brought you a neat gift, music
blocks. I
think Dad likes it as much or more than you do. |
 | December
20, 2000 You
now know about opening gifts and it has become
hard for you not to open all the others, whether
they belong to you or not.
You just brought me one gift from Sharon
and family.
It was cookie cutters for Dad and me.
Oh well, at least it was one of ours. |
 | December
17, 2000 It
was Christmas with Jim and Becky.
We had a nice lunch and opened gifts with
them. You
had a good time playing with "Come-on"
Jim. |
 | December
16, 2000 It
was Christmas with Brandon and Amanda.
You had a great time playing with their
Christmas bells and helping their cat knock the
snow off their tree. |
 | December
15, 2000 It
was a Christmas weekend, we started with
Rhonda’s family in Scurry.
You played with Justin, Delaney and
Caitlyn. Justin taught you a new trick.
He showed you how to hit yourself on the
head with an empty coke bottle (plastic) and
fall in the floor.
It was a hoot! |
 | December
5, 2000 You
helped me put up the Christmas tree and decorate
it. We
have an artificial tree with color-coded limbs
to know where they belong on the tree.
I would ask for a color and you would
bring me the appropriate limbs.
It was a lot of fun for both of us. |
 | December
2, 2000 You
have really started making sentences and
becoming a lot easier to understand. |
 | November
25, 2000 We
went to Love Field Airport to watch
the planes take off and land.
You thought it was neat, but the noise
scared you a little. As each plane took off you
would wave and say bye-bye plane. |
 |
November
21, 2000 You
talked to your cousin Kami on the phone for the
first time.
It was funning; I couldn’t understand a
single thing you said.
Your cousin Roy said that Kami would
listen and then laugh like you told her a joke. |
 |
November
20, 2000 You,
your Aunt Debbie and I drove out to Lubbock
early for Thanksgiving together (Dad flew out a
few days later).
You met Grandma Ruth and Papa’s new
kitten, Missy.
You two played all week and had a great
time. |
 |
October
31, 2000 This
was the first Halloween that you caught on to
the “trick-or-treat” thing.
We took you to Richardson Square Mall
where all the stores hand out candy.
After the first store you figured out
that they would put candy in your pumpkin bucket
when you said, "trick-or-treat". You
would just stand there and look inside at the
candy. We had to move you out of the way so the
next kids could have their turn. Once
we returned, we took you to a few of our
neighbors' houses.
You were dressed like Batman and really
like the cape. |
 | October
29, 2000 Fright
Feast…..
We took you to your first visit to Six Flags, which was all set
up for Halloween.
Dad took you on the Sombrero ride. You were a little scared, you seemed to liked
it but
huddled next to Dad . You
kept asking “fall?” Your favorite ride was
the log ride. As we finished the ride, you'd
say, "again?".
Needless to say... we rode the log ride many
times. |
 |
October
16, 2000 We
took you to your first visit to Sea World and we
spent the whole day there. You
lasted the whole day and crashed on the way back to the hotel.
You did not make a peep until the next morning. |
 |
October
15, 2000 We
took Grandma Ruth and Papa to San Antonio for
their 50th wedding anniversary.
On the way down we stopped by the Auqamarina Spring Park
and the Natural Bridge Wild
Life Park, your second
visits there. |
 |
October
8, 2000 Dad
took us along on yet another business trip,
this time to Houston. We took you to your first
visit to the NASA Space Center.
Your favorite part was the 2 story slide and we
could hear you laughing all the way down.
One time when you were getting off the
slide you were so excited, you actually took a
couple of steps in the air before you fell flat.
That didn't stop you, you bounced right
back up and went for it again... and again...
and again. |
 |
September
19, 2000 On
the way home from San Antonio, we stopped at the
Natural Bridge Wild Life Park.
You got to sit in your Dad’s lap and see
the animals up close. You were able to feed many
of the animals out of your hand. You would say
over and over again... "Animals... where
are you..." |
 |
September
17, 2000 While
in San Antonio we took you to the Ripley’s Museum and Palace of Wax as well as the
Children’s Museum. You also rode one of the
San Antonio river walk boats |
 |
September
16, 2000 Dad
took you and I with him on a business trip to
San Antonio. On the way down we took you to your
first visit to Aquamarina Springs in San Marcos
Park and you rode a glass
bottom boat.
You spent most of your time talking about
the fan under the boat (the propeller). |
 | September
5, 2000
Well this is funny.
Your cousin Virginia, gave you some potty
targets.
They are, or were, little fish to give you
the incentive to use the potty.
Your dad found you flushing them one by
one, saying “Bye Bye Fish”.
No potting involved. |
 | August
26, 2000
We rode the DART train to West End
and walked through the shops and ate lunch. |
 | August
23, 2000
I can honestly say that it hurts
me more than you when it comes to discipline.
I am working with you to go to bed and
stay by yourself.
I was in the kitchen and heard you in the
living room.
I came around the corner and slipped on
the rug and hit my ankle on the door. |
 | July
25, 2000
I gave you your first haircut.
You were pretty cooperative.
I set up the video camera on a tripod so
you could watch me cut you hair. |
 | July
20, 2000 You
saw your first walking stick. |
 | July
19, 2000 We
were in Lubbock visiting Papa and Grandma Ruth and you
laid on the back porch and star gazed with your
Papa. You
enjoyed it, because living in Garland the star
are hard to see. |
